As we all know, earlier today it was announced that James Gunn would be returning to Marvel and Disney to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director was infamously fired from last year after a series of old Tweets that the director made resurfaced that prompted outrage. The outrage, as it turned out, was prompted by a group of alt-right Twitter groups who apparently took exception to comments that James Gunn made about President Donald Trump. Disney, however, stood by their decision to keep the director away from Marvel projoects. That is until today it seems.
The announcement has been drawn overwhelmingly positive responses and even Scott Derrickson had taken to Twitter to praise the return of the Guardains of the Galaxy director. In his Tweet, the director of Doctor Strange had only two words to say but they perfectly summed up what he was feeling. You can see this Tweet below:
What do you all make of this news? Are you happy to see James Gunn returning to Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy? Did the director of Doctor Strange perfectly sum up your emotions? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
James Gunn had completed his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and production was scheduled to begin early this year. However, the project was put on hold following the decision to remove Gunn as the director of the final chapter in the trilogy, though Disney and Marvel Studios reportedly intended to use his script. Now, production on the third Guardians film will begin after James Gunn directs The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Sean Gunn.
