Most recently, Martin Scorsese penned a lengthy essay acknowledging that the Marvel films are an art form while expressing concern about Hollywood prioritizing franchises at the expense of original projects.

While many fans have been upset by Martin Scorsese’s comments, those who worked on Marvel films have largely been open to Martin Scorsese’s criticisms, even if they disagree with his conclusions. Now, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has taken to Instagram to express his love for Martin Scorsese by transforming the Marvel Studios to spell out the acclaimed filmmaker’s name.

Scott Derrickson is set to return to the director’s chair for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange sequel. Details on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to be Marvel Studios’ first true foray into the horror genre. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the Doctor Strange sequel.

Directed by Scott Derrickson from a script written by Jade Bartlett, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2021.
