‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ May Feature The Return Of The Time Stone

A new casting call might have just revealed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could feature the return of the Time Stone.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might have just lost its director, Scott Derrickson, but production for the upcoming MCU film is still on track for Summer. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness appears to be one of the biggest films coming in Phase 4 based on Kevin Feige’s comments about it tying into the WandaVision and Loki Disney Plus series.

It sounds like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have huge implications on the MCU, and a new casting call from Backstage might have revealed that the Time Stone will be making a return in the sequel. While Thanos destroyed the stones in Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange could be operating in a different universe. The description for Doctor Strange in the Madness of the Multiverse also teases the turn of Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo.

After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil.

Details on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to be Marvel Studios’ first true foray into the horror genre. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the Doctor Strange sequel.

Scott Derrickson is still attached to the sequel as an executive producer and the search for a new director to realize the script written by Jade Bartlett is underway. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2021.
