Screenwriter C. Robert Cargill co-wrote the script for the first Doctor Strange film and That Hashtag Show sources confirm Cargill will pen a script for the sequel that will be reviewed by Marvel Studios before a deal is finalized. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, who has previously collaborated with Cargill on several projects, including the horror film Sinister, is set to helm the future Sorcerer Supreme’s second standalone film.
Production on the sequel is expected to begin in 2010 with Marvel Studios reportedly targeting a May 7, 2021, release date. C. Robert Cargill reportedly gave no comment when contacted in reference to the report.
Benedict Cumberbatch is expected to reprise his role as Doctor Strange in the fourth Avengers film.

Avengers: Endgame is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
