‘Doom Patrol’ Star Brendan Fraser Opens Up About His Superman Audition

During an interview with Syfy Wire, Doom Patrol star Brendan Fraser discussed his audition for the role of Superman in the scrapped movie written by J. J. Abrams.

Long before landing the role of Robotman in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol, Brendan Fraser was just one of the actors to audition for the role of Superman in a film penned by J. J. Abrams, which had Brett Ratner on board as a director at one point during development. While Brendan Fraser did not get the role and the Superman project was ultimately scrapped, the actor reflected on the experience in recent interview and commented on what fans could have expected had the film been produced:

It was cool, it was pretty cool. I mean, I didn’t get the job. It went away. Brett Ratner was a bit “woo hoo” in those days, and that’s well documented. And that was a script J.J. Abrams wrote but it never got made. And it was freaking Shakespeare in space. It was so cool. It was worlds colliding and, it was really, really cool. But you know, I hear he’s done well since then. (Laughs)
