Goddard is best known to comic book fans for his role as executive producer on the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil. In addition, he also wrote the script for The Sinister Six Spider-Man spinoff that never came to fruition at Sony.
Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool as he and Cable lead the more aggressive X-Men team of mutants. Josh Brolin stars as the time traveling mutant Cable in Deadpool 2 and he’s expected to reprise the role in X-Force.
Reynolds will also produce the film alongside long-time producers of the X-Men franchise Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Plot details for X-Force remain under wraps but Kinberg has previously described the combination of Deadpool and Cable like the black-ops of the X-Men. As for the remainder of the X-Force itself, rumors swirled this past Spring that Fox was searching for talent to play Roberto DaCosta aka Sunspot, Maria Callasantos aka Feral, and Gaveedra Seven aka Shatterstar, and have the characters first appear in Deadpool 2, however, Deadpool 2 screenwriter Rhett Reese squashed that rumor in May.
