Last month, Zachary Levi’s Shazam! introduced magic into the DCEU with charm and wit that swooned fans and critics all over. It was a successful introduction for Shazam and his family which will seemingly have to take on bigger threats than Doctor Sivana in the next Shazam! flick, such as Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
We still don’t know whether or not we’ll see Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam featured in the next Shazam! film opposite Zachary Levi or if Dwayne Johnson will be feature solely in his Black Adam standalone film. In any case, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is coming in hot for the DCEU and digital artists all over can’t wait for his official reveal as the DC villain. This time around we get to see Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam featuring the character’s iconic cape:
Dwayne Johnson’s introduction to the DCEU could mean that there are threats that can finally go toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill’s Superman and then some. Black Adam is one of the most powerful anti-heroes or villains in the DC Universe and Dwayne Johnson seems to be preparing the character for something mind-blowing for the DCEU.
Which stories would you like to see Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam featured in when he debuts in the DCEU? Do you want to see him face off against Zachary Levi’s magical superhero in the Shazam! sequel? Or would you rather see Zachary Levi go up against another villain? Sound off in the comment section down below!
Following Shazam!, which is now playing, the DCEU continues with Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
Until we get more news on Dwayne Johnson and Black Adam, here is the official synopsis for Shazam!:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
