Dwayne Johnson Offers Update On Potential Start Date For ‘Black Adam’ Movie

On his official Instagram account, Dwayne Johnson offered an update on when Black Adam is expected to begin production.

Shazam! hit theaters this past weekend, but fans still have some time to wait before they see Dwayne Johnson portray the hero’s arch-enemy Black Adam on the big screen. However, Dwayne Johnson posted a new Instagram video in which offered an explanation for Black Adam’s absence in Shazam! and noted that production on the Black Adam standalone film is expected to begin in roughly one year:

“Black Adam is an anti-hero, or a villain, who I cannot wait to pay. I’ve been developing this and it’s been with my in my DNA for over ten years now. We should start shooting that in about a year.”

Dwayne Johnson also noted that none of our heroes will be safe when Black Adam enters the DC Extended Universe:

“I can’t wait to play Black Adam. ‘Cause they’re all getting their ass kicked when I play Black Adam. That day of reckoning is coming for everyone!”

Are you excited to see Dwayne Johnson bring Black Adam to life? Let us know below!

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
