Zachary Levi joined the DC Extended Universe in this year’s Shazam!, which opened in theaters earlier this month. Shazam! featured Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) as the villain but there’s another iconic villain coming Zachary Levi’s way, Black Adam, played by Dwayne Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson announced that he’d be playing the role of Black Adam in the DCEU all the way back in 2014, five years before Zachary Levi’s Shazam! even hit the big screen. Black Adam is an iconic Shazam foe and although Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero didn’t clash with Zachary Levi in Shazam!, the actor is still set to make his debut in the near future.
No official image of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam has been released yet but a talented fan on Instagram has given fans a glimpse at what the Shazam villain’s arrival could look like. Check out the awesome fan art featuring Dwayne Johnson preparing for his clash with Zachary Levi in the post below.
Although Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam still hasn’t officially announced to be in the Shazam! sequel with Zachary Levi, he will be headlining his own solo movie very soon. Very little has been revealed about the Black Adam solo movie but Dwayne Johnson did recently reveal that the film will hopefully begin filming in about a year.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Dwayne Johnson’s debut as Black Adam as soon ass more information becomes available. Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Shazam! is playing in theaters today!
