‘Rundown’ Director Wants Dwayne Johnson And Jonah Hill For Sequel

One of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s first movies was The Rundown, directed by Peter Berg in 2003. In that film, Johnson played a bounty hunter in search of his boss’s troublesome son, played by Seann William Scott, set in Brazil. The movie itself was actually a bit of a flop, grossing less than its production budget worldwide. But Peter Berg and Dwayne Johnson are still interested in doing a sequel. And Berg has specifically expressed interest in casting Jonah Hill or Kevin Hart for a major role. Speaking with Collider, Berg said:

“You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow…If Jonah Hill would do it, I’m in.”

Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson have already starred together in a comedy just this past year in the warmly received (and hugely successful) Central Intelligence. But Jonah Hill has been widening his portfolio somewhat broader with both buddy comedies (like the underwhelming War Dogs, the Jump Street movies, and Superbad, of course) and contemporary roles like True StoryMoneyball, and Hail Caesar.

It’s hard to say whether or not Hill would go for a comedy sequel like this, especially when he’s rumored to be doing a third Jump Street movie crossover with Channing Tatum. But like Berg said when asked by Collider, “Anything’s possible.”

Would you like to see Dwayne Jonson star in a comedy with Jonah Hill?
