Dwayne Johnson Shares First Look At ‘Jumanji’ Sequel As Production Begins

Dwayne Johnson has given fans a Valentine’s day gift with this first look at the Jumanji sequel and announcing that production on it has begun.

A sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has been in the works for quite some time now. All the original cast members will be returning for the sequel as well as some newcomers to help expand the Jumanji universe. Up until now, there haven’t been any official images or trailers for the film and the title is still unknown at this time. Today, Dwayne Johnson decided to give fans a gift for Valentine’s day with a first image from the movie.

The image shows a cartridge of the Jumanji game with some circuit boards in the background. While it may not show much, fans of the franchise should be excited to see that the project is moving forward. The film isn’t coming out until the end of the year near Christmas, but this just means there’s plenty of more news to come until the release of the movie.

Based on the children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, the Jumanji franchise has followed the misadventures of characters who find themselves plagued by a magical game. The 1995 film starred Robin Williams in the lead role and followed the book’s story of wild jungle animals invading the real world while the sequel updated the concept to follow a group of teens who are transported to the world of Jumanji through a video game.

The Jumanji sequel will be released in theaters on December 13, 2019.
