Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Jungle Cruise’ Pushed Back By A Year To Summer 2021

Disney has pushed back the release of Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise to summer 2021.

Disney was set to take audiences on a new adventure this summer with the release of Jungle Cruise, a new film based on the classic theme park ride of the same name. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced Disney to readjust its release schedule and the Dwayne Johnson film is one of the many projects impacted by the shuffle.

While Jungle Cruise was originally scheduled to be the release date July 24, 2020, that release date has now be taken by the live-action remake of Mulan, which had to be pulled from its March slot due to the pandemic. Now, the Dwayne Johnson film will debut in theaters on July 30, 2021, a full year after its initial release date.

Are you disappointed that we have to wait a whole year to see the film? Were you excited to see Jungle Cruise? Do you think this feature film adaptation of a Disney theme park ride can match the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise? Could this become a franchise of its own? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and stay tuned for the latest news on the film as it develops.

Here us the official synopsis for Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise:

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Michael Green, Glenn Ficarra, and John Requa, Disney’s Jungle Cruise stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
