Rumor: Dwayne Johnson could be eyed to star in a remake of 'The Wolfman' for Universal Pictures' Dark Universe film series.
To date, the rumors remain unconfirmed as THR is not reporting that Dwayne Johnson has engaged in any negotiations the studios.
Dwayne Johnson is no stranger to films based on Universal’s classic monsters, having starred in The Mummy Returns as the Scorpion King.
Considering Johnson’s work on Universal Pictures’ financially successful Fast and the Furious franchise, it is not difficult to imagine that they would consider the actor for one of their Dark Universe films. He certainly has the right physique to play an intimidating movie monster. Would you like to see Dwayne Johnson as the Wolfman? Share your thoughts below!
The Mummy will kick off the Dark Universe when it hits theaters this month.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Directed by Alex Kurtzman, the film stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe.
The Mummy will be released in theaters on June 9, 2017.
