Directors Chris Miller and Edgar Wright offer their thoughts on who should direct Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

James Gunn was fired off Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 after old, inappropriate tweets resurfaced. Gunn was already writing the sequel and playing a large part in the MCU’s future cosmic plans. Gunn is now writing and directing a Suicide Squad film for Warner Bros. and DC. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was gearing a 2019 production start, but now the film has been pushed back indefinitely as Marvel Studios continues to look for a director to replace Gunn.

Edgar Wright and Chris Miller have both been names thrown around by MCU fans as worthy replacements. Both directors have a history with Marvel films. Edgar Wright was originally going to direct Ant-Man, but left the project over creative differences. Chris Miller recently co-wrote and produced the Oscar nominated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
