Since the show’s official announcement there has been a lot of speculation as to what Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany upcoming Disney+ series will be about. The cast has teased the upcoming show has beeing Marvel’s oddest project and what we do know seems to point to the show being more of a 50s style sitcom than anything else. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen seemingly confirmed this by saying that it was a mashup between a sitcom and a Marvel film:
“It is a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel film with these characters.”
Paul Bettany later stated that there had been real progress between his and Elizabeth Olson’s characters and their relationships. He then described the scripts that they had read a bonkers:
I think there’s been a real progression in the characters and the relationship and to actually be able to spend the time on that. Each time there’s more exciting stuff for us to do.… The scripts we are reading so far are so bonkers.
Bonkers could very well be a proper way to describe WandaVision. Paul Bettany’s Vision was, of course, among the casualties in Avengers: Infinity War and, unlike Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlett Witch, was not brought back in Avengers: Endgame, begging the question as to how he will be back for WandaVision. Based on these comments the reunion between Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany’s characters will be odd, to say the least.
