Emily Bett Rickards, who has played the resident hacker Felicity Smoak on Arrow since its first season debuted in 2012, revealed in an Instagram post that she would not be returning for the final season of the series, which the network announced earlier this month.
The actress wrote:
The time has come to talk of many memes. Of bows and arrows and superheroes and Olicity and Queens
And why TGA is so damn hot
And yes, canaries need more scenes… But wait just one minute
before we go and do all that
For this makes me out of breath
To have this not small chatFelicity and I
are a very tight two
But after one through seven
we will be saying goodbye to youI thank you all for the time we’ve shared
The elevators we have climbed
The monsters we have faced and scared
And The burgers we have dined
I will keep her in my heart for always
And I hope that you can too
Because she would not be alive if it weren’t for all of you ?Love,
Felicity and Me

The CW’s staple superhero series served as launch pad for much of the network’s current superhero lineup including Legends of Tomorrow and especially The Flash, which introduced Grant Gustin’s Scarlet Speedster into the Arrowverse in Arrow‘s second season before the actor got his very own spin-off. Fast forward six years later and The CW is chock full of superhero shows including Supergirl, and Black Lightning, plus a Batwoman pilot which is currently in production.
