Arrow is coming to an end in its eighth season. The show is currently wrapping up its seventh season on The CW but it will be returning for a shortened eighth season to wrap up its story and characters. One character that won’t be returning in Arrow season eight is Felicity Smoak, played by Emily Bett Rickards. The actor revealed earlier this year that she would not be reprising the role of Felicity Smoak after Arrow season seven concludes.
During a recent Fan Fest in Chicago, Arrow star Kirk Acevedo joined fellow cast members on stage and of course, the topic of Emily Bett Rickards’ departure from the series came up. Fans of Arrow probably remember that Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak and Kirk Acevedo’s Ricardo Diaz have a very rocky history on the series.
Because of this, Kirk Acevedo says that he should’ve killed off Felicity Smoak instead of the exit she’ll be getting from the series. This is what he had to say about Emily Bett Rickards’ exit.
“They should’ve had me kill her. Because that would’ve been better for the storyline, right?”
Kirk Acevedo continued to tease his preferred exit for Emily Bett Rickards’ character.
“You can’t just have her walk away. They should’ve had me kill her. Simple. Wrap.”
Emily Bett Rickards first debuted her character, Felicity Smoak, on The CW’s Arrow in 2012. She has since reprised the role in fellow Arrowverse series such as The Flash, as well as various Arrowverse crossover events such as Elseworlds and the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Arrow, as well as Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak, as soon as more information becomes available.
