Marvel President Kevin Feige mentioned during the press coverage of Ant-Man and the Wasp that the studio was hard at work to bring the MCU it’s first LGBT superhero in the near future. That future could be as soon as the upcoming The Eternals film set to release next year!
It’s reported that Marvel Studios is on the hunt for an actor, approximately 30-49 years of age and looks like they can hold their own among heroes such as Thor and Captain America. While Marvel is always open to all ethnicity, it’s said that they would prefer their The Eternals hopeful to be an openly gay actor.
Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have made a conscious effort to have their films not only be some of the greatest superhero films of all time but also representatives of today’s modern world full of change and growing hope for a better future.
Last year’s Black Panther featured Marvel Studio’s first ever African-American led superhero film and it took home four Academy Awards at this year’s Oscars. This year, Marvel is rolling out its first-ever female-led superhero film with Captain Marvel and now it looks like fans will finally see an openly gay male superhero join the MCU in the near future.
What are your thoughts on Marvel possibly bringing its first openly gay character to the MCU with The Eternals? What other non-traditional characters would you like to see on the big screen in general? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
