Evan Peters Would Have Liked Two Quicksilvers On The Big Screen

If Evan Peters had his way, the comic book movie universe would still have two Quicksilvers on the big screen. During a press day for X-Men: Apocalypse, Yahoo Movies spoke with Peters and asked him his Quicksilver counter-part, Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Peters explained that he was really disappointed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spoiler alert: Quicksilver died in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“I really wanted that to keep going. I thought it was cool. I don’t really know why they killed him off.”

Comparisons immediately surfaced between the two roles. Evans didn’t mind, he liked that things were different for both iterations of the character.

“I liked what they did with it. It was different. It was a completely different take on it. He had the Russian accent. I mean, they had this swoopy thing with the lines behind, which I thought was really cool, and I don’t know. I thought it was a cool character.”

Peters was hoping for more competition between the two and would have been able to channel that as motivation when he is playing Quicksilver in the X-Men universe.

“I thought it could have been a cool competition. Like, ‘Oh, they did that with him and that was awesome. Now we’ve got to try to top that with this.’ It could have been a nice little, I don’t know, motivation.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on May 26, 2016.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
