Ewan McGregor ‘Would Be Happy’ To Play Obi-Wan Again

Following his Golden Globe win for 'Fargo', Ewan McGregor commented on returning in the reportedly in-development 'Star Wars' spin-off.

Hello there. Last summer it was reported that Lucasfilm was developing an film revolving around Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi with Stephen Daldry in talks to direct. Shortly following that news, it was rumored that the project was eyeing an early 2019 start date. Beyond that though? We haven’t really heard anything official about the reportedly in-development Star Wars spin-off film.

Would the film bring Ewan McGregor back to a galaxy far, far away? The actor has expressed an interest many times in the past and following his Golden Globes win for Fargo, McGregor was asked about the project and responded that he would be “happy” to reprise the role but hasn’t heard anything about it.

Then again, Ewan McGregor really couldn’t comment  even if he has heard anything or met with Lucasfilm as the studio has yet to even confirm the project at the moment. If the film is indeed eyeing an early 2019 start date though, I’d expect we will hear some official news in the coming months.

Additionally, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ewan McGregor revealed that he caught a showing of The Last Jedi over Christmas and “thought it was really, really beautiful.” Be sure to stay tuned for any further updates and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
