Ezra Miller’s ‘The Flash’ Will Be A “Different Version Of Flashpoint”, Says Director

Director Andy Muschietti teased a version of Flashpoint that fans are not expecting for Ezra Miller’s The Flash.

While Ezra Miller’s The Flash has gone through multiple directors and writers since the project was first announced, the possibility of seeing the film adapt The Flashpoint comic book story has always been associated with it. During an interview with That Hashtag Show, new director Andy Muschietti confirmed that the aforementioned story will be adapted in Ezra Miller film, however, it may be a “different version of Flashpoint than you’re expecting.”

For those unaware, the Flashpoint storyline in the comics followed The Flash as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.

Since Ezra Miller’s standalone The Flash film was first announced, the project has experienced numerous setbacks. After two separate directors departed over creative differences, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were tapped to helm The Flash before exiting themselves following creative conflicts with Ezra Miller over the tone of the film.

IT director Andy Mushcietti has signed on to direct Ezra Miller’s The Flash from a script penned by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.

The Flash is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 1st, 2022.
