‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ Will Explore Darkness Of Post ‘Avengers: Endgame’ World

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier writer Derek Kolstad commented on how the series will approach the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame.

While Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame concluded with our heroes successfully bringing back everyone who was erased from existence by Thanos and defeating the Mad Titan, the film left audiences with a lot of questions regarding how the world moved forward after an event as monumental “The Blip.” While Spider-Man: Far From Home touched upon the logistics of a world where billions suddenly returned from the dead, much of the topics covered were played for laughs.

However, Derek Kolstad revealed The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will explore how the world was impacted by the events in Avengers: Endgame during a Twitter Q&A session hosted by Discussing Film. In response to a question regarding the tone of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Derek Kolstad said there will be some “resilient” fun to how the series explores the consequences of Avengers: Endgame but that the “darkness” of it will also be examined.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently set to be first of these Marvel Studios series’ to debut on Disney Plus. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the series is rumored to center on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as the former finds himself facing resistance from the United States government and its opposition to him taking on the Captain America mantle.

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will debut on Disney+ in late 2020.
