Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame concluded with Steve Rogers retiring from his role as Captain American and passing on the mantle to Sam Wilson. Now, the ramifications of that decision will be explored in an upcoming Disney+ series titled the Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
The new footage offered Disney shared holders additional insight into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier storyline and now a description of what was shown has surfaced online. According to the description, the extended trailer opens with Bucky Barnes visiting Zemo in an elaborate prison because someone has restarted the super-soldier program. While Zemo tries to activate Bucky’s Winter Soldier programming, he discovers that this no longer works.
A second clip from the preview reveals a rally complete with cheerleaders and plenty of red, white, and blue decorations. As an announcer introduces the new Captain America, viewers see an individual with a shield in silhouette while standing backstage.
The preview then cuts to a montage of action sequences that includes footage of Zemo fighting with the iconic purple mask from the comics. Furthermore, one scene shows Bucky and Sam Wilson making it clear that they are not friends and have only joined forces because they need each other as mutual friends of Captain America.

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Actors Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly have also been cast.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in August 2020.
