New Story Details For ‘The Falcon & The Winter Soldier’ Reportedly Revealed

A new report may have revealed new story details for the upcoming Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Yesterday, fans learned Supergirl star Carl Lumbly has joined the cast of the Marvel Studios series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. While official details on Carl Lumbly’s role in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier were not divulged, the outlet that broke the news speculated that he could be playing the comic book character Isaiah Bradley, a.k.a. the “black Captain America.”

Now, SlashFilm reports that its sources have revealed The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will center on Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson initially refusing to take on the Captain America mantle. However, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will have a change of heart after crossing paths with Isaiah Bradley and learning of the secret history behind the super-soldier serum.

While the outlet could not confirm that Carl Lumbly was definitely playing Isaiah Bradley, it did note that the character will be a part of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. In Marvel Comics’ limited series Truth: Red, White & Black, Isaiah Bradley is depicted as one of the super-powered individuals who were the subjects of secret tests on African-America soldiers involving the super-soldier serum that created Captain America.

Here is the official synopsis for Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:

Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, The Falcon and Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, and Noah Mills have been cast in undisclosed roles.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in August 2020.
