‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer Easter Egg May Tease The Fantastic Four’s Arrival

An Easter egg spotted in the latest Avengers: Endgame trailer may be hinting at the arrival of the Fantastic Four.

Earlier this week, the historic Fox/Disney deal finally came to a close. While the deal has unfortunately resulted in the loss of jobs and the shutting down of the Fox 2000 film division, there has still been some good to come out of this deal as well. The most talked-about aspect of the Fox/Disney deal has been the arrival of many of Marvel’s most iconic heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

20th Century Fox previously held the film rights to characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four, which is why they have yet to appear in the MCU. Now that Disney has merged with 20th Century Fox, the film rights for characters like the Fantastic Four have been given back to Marvel Studios.

A fan with the username insane_ravager recently took to Reddit to point out a very deep-cut reference to the Fantastic Four that was possibly featured in the latest trailer for Avengers: Endgame. Check out the Fantastic Four Easter egg theory in the post below.

As fans can see in the post, the tease wouldn’t just be a simple reference to the Fantastic Four in Avengers: Endgame but also presents a possible way for those characters to make an appearance in the MCU. Many fans have theorized how the Fantastic Four and X-Men could join the MCU but Kevin Feige has yet to reveal specifically how the 20th Century Fox-owned Marvel heroes will make their MCU debut.

Fans may remember that Avengers: Endgame star Chris Evans has a very particular connection to the Fantastic Four. Long before the actor played the titular hero in Captain America: The First Avenger, he starred in two Fantastic Four films. He first appeared as Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Avengers: Endgame and the arrival of the Fantastic Four in the MCU as soon as more information becomes available. Do you think this Easter egg was on purpose or simply a coincidence? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”

Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters on April 26, 2019.
