While speaking with EW, Jones revealed that he has been training around the clock for the role including a daily routine that consists of Kung Fu, Wushu and Tai Chi in addtion to meditating as well as researching Buddhism. The actor then commented on his excitement to play the character and what to expect from the series.
I’ve always dreamed of a role that bridged spiritual discipline and badass superhero. There’s a contradiction in those elements that’s going to be very fun to play.
While it’s not much, it’s nice to hear something from Jones. We should expected to hear more from him soon and learn the full series cast as production is set to start very soon. And it’s not going to be too long of a wait until we meet Danny Rand as the character is set to make an appearance this September in Luke Cage. I also wouldn’t be too surprised if we get a brief teaser hooked to the end of that season much like they did with the aforementioned series. EW also offered up an updated synopsis for the series. Check it out below and sound off with your thoughts on Iron Fist in the comments section below.
After his family meets a tragic fate while on expedition in China, a young Rand is adopted by the people of the mystical lost city of K’un-Lun, where he’s taught a magical fighting style. Years later, he returns to New York to fight crime.
