Rumor: Finn’s Mission in ‘Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi’ Revealed?

According to a rumor-based report, Finn will go on a plot-important mission to infiltrate the First Order in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

When we last saw Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we saw that his battle against Kylo Ren left him wounded and comatose. But according to a new rumor about The Last Jedi, it seems like Finn gets back into shape rather quickly – and that he’ll be in charge of a special operation against the First Order.

Potential spoilers ahead.

According to Making Star Wars, Finn’s primary mission in The Last Jedi will be to infiltrate a First Order Super Star Destroyer. Like the Finalizer Star Destroyer in The Force Awakens, the flagship gets a pretty big redesign from the last time we saw it in Return Of The Jedi – while it was dark blue and had a substantial number of towers and chasms on top of it in that movie, the new model is more akin to a obsidian obelisk with a much more flat, streamlined design. Existing Star Wars lore suggests that Supreme Leader Snoke lives on mobile installation – might he be skulking aboard one of the most powerful weapons that the First Order has at its disposal?

Making Star Wars have reason to believe that Finn and the character played by Kelly Marie Tran will go to the flagship and plant explosives upon it. They also claim that the planet the First Order flagship is orbiting looks like Mars with a thin layer of snow, and that they have cities built into the chasm of the planet. Either on the planet or the Super Star Destroyer, Finn dons a uniform fit for a First Order officer, similar to the one that Armitage Hux wore in the previous movie; and according to their sources, Tom Hardy makes a cameo as a Stormtrooper who mistakes Finn (a traitor to the First Order) for a Resistance mole who just got promoted in an initially tense but humorous scene. The report also has fan art approximating what Finn will look like in the First Order uniform: to see it, you can check out their article.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will feel the Force on December 15, 2016.
