In a recent interview, 'Arrow' executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that his 2013 script for 'The Flash' movie would have had Green Lantern in it.
During an interview with Discussing Film at ACE Comic Con 2017 Guggenheim briefly discussed his current and past film and television projects. One of the topics discussed was how not only how the writer did tackle the first draft of 2011’s Green Lantern film along with Berlanti but interestingly that the duo also worked on a screenplay for The Flash in 2013 which would have had featured Hal Jordan at the end of the film. You can check out the full interview with Guggenheim below.
While Guggenheim and Berlanti would garner success with The CW’s Arrowverse, ultimately, the Ryan Reynolds lead Green Lantern film received a generally negative reception which led Warner Bros. to cancel plans for the sequel and for a potential shared cinematic universe.
It wasn’t until 2013’s Man of Steel that fans finally got to witness the inception of the DC Extended Universe with plans for not only a live-action Flashpoint film starring Ezra Millar in development but also the Green Lantern Corps as well.
Green Lantern Corps is currently set to come out on July 24, 2020. David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers) wrote the screenplay, based on a story treatment by Goyer and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns.
