‘The Flash’: The Thinker Will Add A Psychological Component To Season 4

Season 4 of The Flash is gearing up for an unprecedented battle of epic proportions with The Thinker. In season 4, the fastest man alive will be pitted against the smartest alive, and that prospect is one that truly excited the showrunner, Todd Helbing.

It hasn’t been revealed as to why The Thinker is going up against The Flash and his team, but we do know that the villain’s motivations are deeply rooted in his personal experiences. When speaking with TV Line, showrunner Todd Helbing further divulged how The Thinker will impact the upcoming season:

“The Thinker literally is the smartest guy on the planet, so there’s a lot of chess pieces that he’s moving around simultaneously. As our team is figuring out who he is and what they think the plan is, there’s a lot of fun [as we] show the audience information and then have our team catch up to that information or surpass it. It’s a big mystery.”

Season 4 will definitely be one for the books as we’ll see Barry Allen pushed to both his mental and physical limits with the arrival of The Thinker.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe, Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West and Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash. Here is the official synopsis:

Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.

The Flash returns for its fourth season on October 10th at 8/9c on The CW.
