Florence Pugh Joins Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Widow’ Movie

Florence Pugh is officially entering the Marvel Studios universe by joining Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming Black Widow movie.

Black Widow is one of the most anticipated Marvel Studios films being developed and is expected to begin filming very soon. As filming nears, casting for the film has begun to be released. According to Variety, Florence Pugh is joining Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming Black Widow film.

Florence Pugh is currently coming off the highly reviewed Fighting With My Family and the actress is definitely in the market for something big. Black Widow had been casting the second lead before last fall and Florence Pugh has been on the hot list since then. There are currently no details on Florence Pugh’s role.

Cate Shortland (Lore) is directing the standalone film centered on the Marvel Studios Universe’s most popular female character played by Scarlett Johansson. Official plot details remain under wraps, however, the film is expected to spotlight events that occurred prior to the Scarlett Johannson’s debut as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2. In the comics, Natasha Romanoff was trained by the Winter Soldier himself, Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan in the films. Rumors have swirled that Marvel was planning to make Black Widow the studio’s first R-rated comic book film, however, this has been confirmed to be untrue.

Production on the project is now expected to begin this June under the working title “Blue Bayou.” Scarlett Johansson will next be seen in Avengers: Endgame.
