Frank Miller On The ‘Enormous’ Impact Of ‘Wonder Woman’

Frank Miller On The 'Enormous' Impact Of 'Wonder Woman'. He also discusses the fact that Wonder Woman having her own feature is a great opportunity.

Wonder Woman is drawing nearer and now that the first reactions are out (and they’ve been largely positive) there’s a ton of hype going into the film. Comic legend Frank Miller recently spoke at a panel hosted by People and discussed the impact that the Wonder Woman movie will have.

“I think it’s enormous.  She’s a character with terrific history and the only memory a lot of people have was of a TV show that was an ancient show that’s rarely shown on reruns. But of all the comic book characters, that’s the only lady in the bunch so naturally she’s the one that would emerge. For her to have her own feature will be a tremendous opportunity to bring in all of the mythological context that the character has. Then they’ll learn what a heroine is in ancient Greek terms, a whole reintroduction to the role of a woman in a heroic world, which they understood back in ancient Greece better than what we seem to.”

Hopefully, the film will also open the doors to others female-led films and TV shows moving forward.

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Saïd Taghamoui and Ewen Bremmer.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot who tells her about the massive conflict that’s raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Wonder Woman is in theaters on June 2, 2017.
