Donald Glover & FX Step Away From Animated ‘Deadpool’ Series

Earlier today it was announced by FX studios that it would not be going ahead with it's planned Deadpool animated series.

FX has revealed that it won’t be moving forward with Donald Glover‘s Deadpool series.

In an official announcement by the network, they stated that due to creative differences the show would not be produced by FX or aired on the network, FXX:

“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.”

The show was set to be an adult action-comedy series from writer/actor/producer Donald Glover and writer Stephen Glover and were both set to be the show runners for the upcoming season.  Last May, the project was approved for a ten episode season to premier on the FX comedy network, FXX and was set to debut sometime this year.  Sadly for Deadpool and Donald Glover fans, this is not likely to happen.

The Deadpool series was to be produced by Marvel TV in association with FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios. It is currently unknown as to whether or not the people behind the animated series will pursue other networks for the show. However, given the fact that Fox still owns the rights to the popular Rob Liefeld character the show will still have to go through a Fox based network. But given this recent fallout, who can say if any Fox studio will give them the green light. Until then, people are just going to have to settle for the upcoming film, Deadpool 2.

Directed by David Leitch, the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers/Cable, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapcic as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al,  and Karan Soni as Dopinder. Julian Dennison, Jack Kesy and Shioli Kutsuna join the cast in undisclosed roles.

Deadpool 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 18, 2018.
