Gal Gadot became an overnight celebrity when she was cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gadot spoke with Ellen DeGeneres this week and expanded on what the audition process was like to join the D.C. universe and how she hopes Wonder Woman can be an inspiration for her own daughter.
Gadot opened up about what it was like to audition for such a high profiled role, which she had no idea she was auditioning for at the time. She was first brought into test with Zack Snyder and later returned to do a chemistry screen test with Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman). She added that when she left the test, she felt positive but still wasn’t aware of the role she could be possibly playing.
“Same night, caught to Zack calls me, saying, ‘Well, I’m not sure if you have it in Israel but did you ever hear of Wonder Woman?’ Then I went dead for five seconds, came back to life, and tried to pull off my coolest voice, saying ‘Wonder Woman? Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard of her.
Gadot, a mother herself, expressed that it is very important for young females to have a superhero role models, after all, boys have Batman, Superman and Spiderman.
Wonder Woman will be featured in Batman v Superman, along with appearing in her own headlining solo film due to be released in 2017. Gadot will also be appearing in Justice League Part 1, which starts production this April.
