In the last week, everyday has featured some kind of major news regarding the coronavirus’ impact on the entertainment industry. Movie studios continue to remove movies from the 2020 release schedule. So far, two comic book films in The New Mutants and Black Widow have been pulled. While Warner Bros. has stopped production on The Batman, The Matrix 4, and other projects, the studio hasn’t removed any release dates yet. One of the biggest releases from Warner Bros. this year is Gal Gadot’s highly-anticipated Wonder Woman 1984.
We got our first look at Gal Gadot’s next Wonder Woman solo film back in December with a summer release date in mind. Wonder Woman 1984 has already suffered from two release date pushes, moving from December 2019 to November 2019 and most recently settling at June 2020, but the situation is now looking like it could face another. Director Patty Jenkins has said that Wonder Woman 1984 is finished with some posters from the film’s marketing campaign surfacing in the last few days.
However, the way things are looking, movie theaters might not be open until the end of summer or early fall, which would be past Wonder Woman 1984‘s release date. It wouldn’t be surprising if Warner Bros. announces release date delays in the coming days for both Wonder Woman 1984 and Christopher Nolan’s Tent. If the film is delayed, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 might find itself back in a fall release date once again.
Do you think the film will be delayed? If so, where do you think its new release date will be? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
Full details on the plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.
Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
Wonder Woman 1984 is currently set for June 5, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news surrounding the films affected by the coronavirus.
