Gal Gadot’s ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Receives Official Rating

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 has been given an official rating before it hopefully arrives in August.

While fans are still hoping that Wonder Woman 1984 will make its way into theaters on August 14, the DC film has received an official age rating. While previous trailers have teased the action and adventure that audiences can expect to see from the sequel, it seems like Patty Jenkins hasn’t decided to head in a vastly different tone to the first film – as it’s received a PG-13 rating.

The rating for the Wonder Woman sequel surfaced on Twitter, showing the film got the PG-13 rating for “sequences of action and violence”, which is unsurprising since the Amazonian will be going up against Maxwell Lord and Cheetah. Fans recently got their first look at a fight between Diana and Cheetah. Most of the DCEU has the same rating as the sequel aside from Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey, which has plenty of R-rated violence and language.

The film is one of the many projects affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled to open in theaters in early June, Warner Bros. opted to push the release date to mid-August in hopes that the crisis will have abated by then and movie theaters, which have been forced to shut down, can re-open their doors.

Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on August 14, 2020.
