‘Game Of Thrones’ Creator Teases Possible Targaryen Prequel

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin has hinted to fans that a Targaryen prequel series could be in the works at HBO.

It is a great time to be a Game of Thrones fans. The final season promises to be a serious game changer and we now have some news on the new prequel series. Naomi Watts will lead the Game of Thrones prequel, rumored to be titled The Long Night. Now the scribe behind the beloved series has hinted that the Targaryens could be the focus of another potential Thrones spinoff.

“Meanwhile, there are still a couple of other possible prequels in active development. I can’t tell you the subject matter of those projects, no, sorry, wish I could. The readers among you might want to grab a copy of Fire & Blood when it is released on November 20, though.”

The mentioning of Fire and Blood is a big red flag. The book is said to look at Aegon’s Landing and the Doom of Valyria, the kingdom the Targaryens used to reign over. This could mean that the potential series could revolve around the house with the three-headed dragon on their sigil. Right now this is all speculation, and fans will have to wait and see if they will ever get to see this origin story. Daenerys Targaryen finally returned to Westeros this past season and it will be interesting to see if she can take back the Iron Throne that her ancestors created. The final season of Game of Thrones will release next year.
