While many fans were left severely disappointed with the end of Game of Thrones Season 8, there were still a variety of questions that were left unanswered… until now. The showrunners behind Game of Thrones have revealed what happened to Daenerys’ body when Drogon flew off with her after Jon Snow murdered the Mad Queen. It isn’t one of the most dramatic questions left after the divisive finale, but Drogon flying away with Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys left most fans a little confused.
ComicBook recently revealed that on the commentary track for Game of Thrones Season 8, the showrunners behind the hugely popular HBO series explained where Drogon took Daenerys’ body after her death. Drogon was taking the Mother of Dragons back to the ancestral home of the Targaryens, Volantis. It’s where the original Targaryen dynasty was born and set out to conquer Westeros with the dragons they’d been rearing. For Game of Thrones fans worried if Drogon ate Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys, that was cleared up too. Here’s what showrunner David Benioff told Emilia Clarke regarding that:
“Drogon’s not going to eat you. He’s not a cat. Did you see how gently he was nudging you?”
What do you think about the reveal that Drogon took Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen to Volantis? Are you still disappointed about the ending to Game of Thrones Season 8? Tell us in the comments!
