The final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones was met with predominantly negative reactions from fans, with many believing the quality of the writing had diminished significantly compared to the earlier years. Despite the negative response, Game of Thrones season 8 earned a record-breaking 32 nominations at the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards, including a Best Writing nod for the divisive series finale and Best Drama.
Last night, the 2019 Emmy Awards ceremony concluded with Game of Thrones season 8 winning the Best Drama award and fans responded by taking to Twitter to express just how much they feel the series is undeserving of this victory. Of course, not everyone was displeased, as a handful of fans took time to congratulate the Game of Thrones team on their win.

While Game of Thrones has come to an end, the franchise is set to continue with a prequel series. Details on the Game of Thrones prequel are still under wraps, though the series is said to be set roughly 5,000 years before the events of George R. R. Martin’s original story. A second prequel centered on the downfall of House Targaryen was last reported to be nearing a pilot order from HBO.
The pilot for the Game of Thrones prequel will be directed and executive produced by S. J. Clarkson. The series stars Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Toby Regbo, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Alex Sharp, Miranda Richardson, Marquis Rodriguez, John Simm, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx.
