Game of Thrones‘ final season was, of course, a highly controversial one. Fans, of course, criticized the direction that the series took along with a number of character decisions that seemed out of character for them. The backlash hasn’t stopped Game of Thrones from earning a boatload of Emmy nominations. In total, the series has earned a total of 32 Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Writing on the series finale. It remains to be seen, however, if the show will win any. But in the meantime, the Game of Thrones‘ showrunners still appear not to be ready to face down their critical fans at San Diego Comic-Con.
