‘Game Of Thrones’: Pilou Asbæk Says Euron Greyjoy Is Worse Than Ramsay

Game of Thrones has no shortage of ruthless villains and audiences have seen a number of these sadistic characters get their comeuppance over the course of the show’s six season run. Last season viewers were introduced to Euron Grejoy, uncle of  Yara and Theon Greyjoy, who claimed the Salt Throne for himself after murdering his brother Balon. In an interview with Empire Magazine, actor Pilou Asbæk discussed just how sinister his character will be and claimed that one of the most reviled characters on the series, Ramsay Bolton, will pale in comparison to the self-proclaimed King.

Asbæk explained how he approached playing Euron Grejoy, hinting at multiple sides to the new antagonist:

“The psychos I’ve encountered have so many different sides to them. So each scene I’ve done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show. ‘This scene I want to be charming.’ ‘This scene I wanna be a molester.’ ‘This scene I wanna kill someone.’ After this season, Ramsay’s gonna look like a little kid.”

Considering Ramsay Bolton’s vicious deeds resulted in some of the most difficult moments to watch on the series, one can imagine that if Euron Greyjoy truly is worse than Ramsay, viewers can expect to see some unspeakably cruel actions from the King of the Iron Islands.

Game of Thrones season seven premieres on HBO on July 16, 2017.
