HBO’s Game of Thrones has been one of the biggest television series on the air ever since it premiered back in 2011. Now that the series is nearing its end, it only makes sense that HBO would want to expand the Game of Thrones universe in new ways. Early next year, the untitled prequel series begins filming with both Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse leading the cast. A new report from That Hashtag Show claims that the two leads will now be joined by Sheila Atim and Denise Gough, two actors who are relatively new to a huge franchise such as Game of Thrones.
Atim is known for her theater work in London. In fact, she’s an Olivier winning actress, so she will fit right into the theatrical nature of the iconic HBO franchise. You may not recognize Gough by her full name but you may recognize her voice from several video games such as EA’s Battlefront, XCOM 2, and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Her most recognizable video game work is probably the role of Yennefer in the hit video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The details surrounding the characters that the two actors would play remain a mystery other than that Gough’s character is reportedly a “critical role” in the upcoming series.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding HBO’s untitled Game of Thrones prequel series as soon as more information becomes available.
