‘Game Of Thrones’: Kit Harington Says Final Two Seasons Will “Push Past Boundaries”

Last season of Game of Thrones marked momentous changes and revelations concerning Jon Snow, the most significant of which he is completely unaware. In an interview with The Huffington Post, actor Kit Harrington discussed ambition of the upcoming penultimate season and assured fans that the long wait for season seven will be worthwhile.

Harington explained that every actor on the series was given more material to work with for season seven.

“Yes, I’m gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I mean I hope it is. I certainly did more this season than I’ve ever done. I think every actor on it did more action, had more action, had more scenes.”

Harington also teased that some characters will meet for the first time as the cast continues to dwindle.

“They really focused it because less characters are coming in, and they’re focusing in on the existing ones, and there are lots of people who cross paths, and that’s something that I think the audience has been waiting for for a long time.”

Though many fans were disappointed to learn that the final two season of the series would feature less episodes than usual, Harington discussed the benefits of a shorter season.

“They spent an increasing amount of money on less episodes, so it’’s gonna be much bigger in scale, the CGI … we’re trying new things, experimenting with new camera techniques. I think we’re trying to break boundaries and push past boundaries in these final two seasons.”

Harington commented on the importance of pushing boundaries at the series wraps up.

“You have to live up to the hype that’s surrounded the show and the worst thing would be to end without really pushing and trying new things. Even if it’s a failure, at least trying to go out with a bang.”

While the wait has been long, the promise of characters finally meeting and increased amounts of spending per episode will certainly raise expectations for the upcoming season.

Game of Thrones season seven will premiere on July 16, 2017 on HBO.
