'Game of Thrones' star Kit Harington addresses a major fan theory and reveals that he does not care about the speculation.
As HBO’s Game of Thrones begins to wind down, fans will discover which of the many theories will prove to be true or false. One of the most prominent fan theories relates to the prophecy of “The Prince That Was Promised”. The prophecy tells of a hero who saved the world from darkness thousands of years ago and who will allegedly be reborn again to save the world once more. Many fans speculate that Jon Snow, recently confirmed the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, is the “The Prince That Was Promised”. In an interview with The Huffington Post, actor Kit Harington addressed the speculation and revealed that he does not care about the popular theory.
Harington explained why does not care about the theory and how he feels Jon Snow would respond to such news.
“I think you have to wait and see what happens this year, and if we find out anything more about Jon. I think Jon would hate the term ‘The Prince That Was Promised.’ If someone turned to him and said, ‘You’re The Prince That Was Promised,’ he just wouldn’t pay much attention. That’s what I love about him, so I don’t really care about it either. You know, I think that’s what’s great about him. He’s got very little ego on him.”
While Melisandre has referred to Jon Snow as the Prince, she has been mistaken in the past. While there is certainly a considerable amount of evidence to support the idea, only time will tell if the theory is correct.
Game of Thrones will premiere on July 16, 2017 on HBO.
