‘Game Of Thrones’: Miguel Sapochnik May Return For Final Season

UPDATE: Miguel Sapochnik has been confirmed to return for the final season of Game of Thrones.

With the eighth season of Game of Thrones set to begin production next month, a cinematographer may have revealed that one of the show’s most acclaimed directors could be returning for the final season.

Cinematographer Fabian Wagner posted an image to his official Instagram account featuring director Miguel Sapochnik during the filming of the fan-favorite episode titled “Battle of the Bastards”. While the image may not be new and HBO has not confirmed Sapochnik’s return, Wagner’s caption indicates that the individuals included in the photo have all returned for the final season of the HBO series:

Sapochnik has directed four fan-favorite episodes of Game of Thrones including “The Gift”, “Hardhome”, “Battle of the Bastards” and “The Winds of Winter”. Though Sapochnik did not helm an entry for the penultimate season, it appears the commended director could be returning to lend his talents to the series one last time.

Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen, Liam Cunningham as Ser Davos Seaworth, Carice van Houten as Melisandre, Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark, Conleth Hill as Varys, Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy, John Bradley as Samwell Tarly, Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Kristofer Hivju as Tormund Giantsbane, Isaac Hempstead Wright as Bran Stark, Jerome Flynn as Bronn, Iain Glen as Jorah Mormont, Hannah Murray as Gilly.
