Last year’s Star Wars Celebration Anaheim was definitely one for history books – especially with the event’s inaugural panel with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy interviewed onstage discussing the film’s production. Alongside Abrams and Kennedy, fans got first impressions from the now-iconic BB-8, as well as some of the film’s cast – comprised of both old and new friends from the galaxy far, far away. And who can forget the unveiling of the second teaser featuring that immortalized moment with Han and Chewie inside the Millennium Falcon?
With Celebration Europe scheduled for July 15-17, anticipation is growing high in this post-The Force Awakens environment with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming to theaters this Christmas, and Episode VIII currently in production. And in an inevitable move, StarWars.com has confirmed that a Rogue One panel will be held on July 15, with the film’s director Gareth Edwards and Kathleen Kennedy set to attend. If Celebration Anaheim was any indication, cast members from the upcoming Star Wars Story may participate in this panel and perhaps a new trailer may be released during this time as well.
Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forrest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Jonathan Aris, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will come to a galaxy near you on December 16.
