The Suicide Squad almost went up against Black Adam in the upcoming sequel!
Dwayne Johnson has been attached to the role of Black Adam for years now with a solo project centered on the Shazam villain finally coming together. In the upcoming film, Black Adam will be joined by the Justice Society which will feature the likes of Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and others. In Empire’s latest issue, which covers James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, it mentions that Black Adam was the villain of the film when Gavin O’Connor was attached to the sequel.
The villain of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad remains unknown, but many speculate that it’s none other than Starro. It’s unclear if Black Adam would’ve been played by Dwayne Johnson in Gavin O’Connor’s version— but the notion of Task Force X going up against a supervillain on the level of Black Adam is a compelling one.
