It’s been five years since George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road but it seems like a sequel is finally gearing up for production, and a possible title for the film has also been revealed thanks to Production Weekly. Mad Max: Fury Road was met with critical claim, praising the incredible stunt work and the messages laid throughout the plot of the post-apocalyptic thrill ride. Fans have been desperate for the return of Tom Hardy’s Mad Max, and it seems like they’ll finally be getting their wish.
According to Production Weekly, George Miller’s Mad Max: The Wasteland and will start filming in Australia later this year. Although the possible title doesn’t reveal much regarding the plot, fans will no doubt be pleased to see the return of the series. While Warner Bros. have yet to announce a release date for Mad Max: The Wasteland, presumably it’ll arrive in late 2021 or 2022.

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.
