‘Glass’ Opening Weekend Projected To Hit $70M; New Image Released

According to Variety, M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie Glass is heading towards a $70-$75 million opening during Martin Luther King holiday weekend. If these projections stay true, Glass would be the second most successful opening on this weekend, only surpassed by 2015’s American Sniper from Clint Eastwood which made $107 million.

Glass is actually a continuation of Unbreakable and Split, which makes up what the director has dubbed the “Eastrail 177” trilogy — a nod to the train disaster from when Bruce Willis’ character discovered his superpowers in Unbreakable. This first film in the series is one of Shyamalan’s most famous films. It made more than $248 million with a budget of just $75 million. While the second film, Split, proved to be a success at the box office, collecting more than $278 million worldwide with a budget of only $40 million. This last film in the trilogy will seemingly wrap up things up.

Fandango also released this picture, where James McAvoy’s as his most terrifying persona, The Beast, lifting a security car up. Check it out:

Here is the synopsis for Glass:

From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Written and directed by M Night Shyamalan, Glass stars James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard.

Glass will be released in theaters on January 18, 2019.
