Post-production on Godzilla: King of the Monsters has officially been completed ahead of its May 2019 release date.
2014’s Godzilla was a mammoth hit when it was released in theaters, earning an impressive $529 million at the worldwide box office. Whereas Godzilla fought the MUTO monsters in the 2014 film, the iconic monster will now be going up against some of the most famous characters from his history.
As the San Diego Comic-Con trailer showed, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah will be joining the rebooted monster franchise this time around. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
