In just a few months, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to hit theaters and feature a big screen monster showdown that includes icons such as Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Next year, the titular monstrous reptile will battle another icon, the titular monster of 2017’s Kong: Skull Island in Godzilla vs. Kong. The film’s release date previously collided with the release date of Universal’s Fast & Furious 9 but now that will no longer be the case.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Aaron Couch via Twitter, Godzilla vs. Kong will now open on March 13, 2020 to avoid a box office slugfest with Fast & Furious 9, the follow-up to 2017’s Fate of the Furious. Check out the full report in the post below.
Before Fast & Furious 9 hits screens, fans of the franchise will be treated to their own spin-off this summer in the form of Hobbs & Shaw. The spin-off, featuring Dwayne Johnson and & Jason Statham reprising their iconic roles from the franchise, hits theaters later this year but sadly, Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he won’t appear in the upcoming Fast & Furious 9.
